Google and Asus unveil Chromebit HDMI dongle & Chromebook Flip

Asus ChromebitTaking the form factor of the Chrome OS devices to a new level, Google and Asus on Tuesday unveiled the new Chromebit dongle, which plugs in any display with HDMI input and turns it into a full-fledged Chrome OS computer.

“Smaller than a candy bar, the Chromebit is a full computer that will be available for less than $100. By simply plugging this device into any display, you can turn it into a computer. It’s the perfect upgrade for an existing desktop and will be really useful for schools and businesses,” Google wrote in a blog post.

According to the company, it will go on sale this summer. The final pricing is a mystery at this point, but as Google noted in the above statement, it will retail under $100.

Asus Chromebit will be available in three colours and features Rockchip RK3288 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a USB 2.0 port on one end.

In addition to this interesting device, Asus has also taken the wraps off Chromebook Flip. Sporting an all-metal build, this premium convertible Chromebook will be available later this spring for $249.Asus Chromebook Flip

It is just 15mm thin and weighs less than two pounds. The device features a 10-inch full HD touchscreen, and rest of the specifications are similar to the Chromebit apart from the extra ports.
