D-Link quietly releases its first Android tablet in India for INR 13,550

D-Link D100Networking equipment maker D-Link seems to have decided to enter the Indian tablet market and the company recently released its first Android tablet in the country. Dubbed as D-Link D100, the tablet is now on sale at e-retailers like Flipkart, Snapdeal and eBay India for around INR 13,550.

India is not the first market where D-Link has decided to dabble in the tablet arena, the company retails as many as four Android tablets in the Middle-East including the D100. It isn’t clear whether the company has seen any success with the tablets or it is just trying to sell a few devices by capitalising on its brand name, which is better known than most small-time players currently operating in India and other markets.

Coming to the D100 tablet, it features a 7.85-inch 1024x768p IPS display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4000 mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and includes 5MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 3G and voice-calling.

In addition, D-Link has packed USB-OTG support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS in the D100.

Given the price and these specifications, there isn’t anything special about the D-Link D100 and Dell’s Venue 7 and 8 tablets are better options for anyone looking to grab an Android tablet in this price-segment.
