Asus India to launch Zenfone 2 in Q2, 2015: Report

Asus Zenfone 2Asus is reportedly planning to introduce the Zenfone 2 smartphone in the Indian market in the second quarter of 2015. The camera-phone Zenfone Zoom is expected to follow in Q3, 2015, reports India Today, citing Peter Chang, who is Country Head at Asus India.

“ZenFone 2, you will see in Q2. ZenFone Zoom might be later, maybe Q3,” Chang told India Today.

Peter Chang’s comments are hardly a surprise and just confirm that we won’t see Zenfone 2 India release in March. India wasn’t among the first markets for the roll-out of original Zenfone line-up, so it was expected that the situation is not going to change this year. Also, Asus doesn’t possess the manufacturing muscle like Samsung or Apple, which makes it difficult for the company to fulfill the product demand in several countries simultaneously. Thus, it moves slowly from one market to another.

The Asus’ supply issues were also confirmed by Chang, when asked about the Zenwatch launch in the country, which is rumoured to be arriving in Q1, 2015.

“We still plan to launch it in Q1, but now the problem is that we have too many products. So we need to also prioritize and we also have to ensure there is enough supply for existing countries,” noted Chang.

It remains a mystery whether Asus will first bring the Intel-powered 5.5-inch Zenfone 2 to India or the recently revealed 5-inch Zenfone 2 ZE500CL or the rumoured MediaTek & Qualcomm-powered variants.
