Although IR blasters have become common in the flagship smartphones, they remain absent in the budget phones. In an attempt to cater to the niche consumer-set, which wants IR blaster in its smartphones, Indian smartphone vendor Intex has introduced the new Aqua Y2 Remote smartphone.

The Intex smartphone packs an IR blaster and comes pre-loaded with ZaZa Remote app, which will allow the consumers to control their electronic appliances like TV, Set-top box, AC, Speakers, etc with their Android phone.

The Aqua Y2 Remote has been priced at INR 4,390 and includes budget specifications like a 4-inch WVGA display, 1500 mAh battery, dual-SIM support, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The phone also features 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter, 3G and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

“The new Aqua Y2 Remote is the most reasonable smartphones with a soothing display to suit the user requirement. As the name suggests, the smartphone turns into a remote once synced with the products,” said Sanjay Kumar Karilona, Mobile Business Head at Intex Technologies.

According to Intex, Aqua Y2 Remote will be available in three colors – Grey, White & Black.
