Indian smartphone vendor Lava is ready with its competitor to Yu Yureka smartphone. The company will be launching the new iris X8 smartphone in the coming days for INR 8,999, which will take on the similarly-priced smartphone from Micromax-backed Yu Televentures.
While Lava is still just teasing the phone and has not revealed any specifics officially, e-retailer Flipkart has spilled the beans in a product listing on its website.
As per the Flipkart listing, the Lava iris X8 will feature a 5-inch 1280x720p IPS display with Asahi Glass, 1.4GHz MediaTek MT6592M octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The phone will also come with 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and dual-SIM support. On the imaging front, the smartphone will include an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 3MP front shooter.
Among other specifications, the iris X8 packs 2500 mAh battery, 3G support, and Andrid 4.4. Lava is promising to provide Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the phone.
Lava iris X8 might not exactly trump the Yu Yureka on the specifications front, the phone is still a big competitor, thanks to the more-pocketable 5-inch display size. Also, if Lava makes it available at both brick-and-mortar stores as well as online retailers, it certainly has the chance to outsell the Yureka.
Update: Flipkart has now removed the iris X8 listing, but you can check out the full screengrab below.
