Google Korea has reportedly revealed that the search giant sold 10 million Chromecasts globally in 2014. This is a big milestone for the company as it expands the media streamer’s availability to more markets.
Originally unveiled in 2013, the Chromecast media streamer is a small HDMI dongle, which allows the consumers to stream online media content on their HDTV and control it via their smartphone or Chrome browser on their computer.
Google recently announced that the Chromecast owners have used the device to stream content more than one billion times and the per device usage has increased by 60 percent, thanks to increasing availability of cast-compatible content and apps.
To remind you, Google also unveiled the Cast for Audio at CES in January, which will allow the audio peripheral makers to add support for Google Cast on their devices.
