Samsung is reporting working on multiple new Android tablets, which will be launched this year as the successor to the company’s existing line-up. In addition, the company is preparing its first circular smartwatch, which is codenamed Orbis.
According to reports in Samsung news website SamMobile, Samsung will introduce the new Galaxy Tab AS and AL tablets in 2015, which will be joined by Galaxy Tab AS Plus and Tab AL Plus tablets. All four of these tablets will be released in both Wi-Fi + Cellular and Wi-Fi-only versions.
While the above four tablets are either mid-range or high-end, the Korean firm is also building two budget tablets for the consumers, which will carry model numbers SM-T113 and SM-T116. The final branding of the affordable tablets is unclear at this point.
We expect to see the SM-T113 and SM-T116 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in March this year, however the Galaxy Tablet AS and AL line-up will arrive in Q2 or Q4 of 2015.
Coming to the Orbis smartwatch, SamMobile is reporting that this smartwatch with circular watch-face will carry the model number SM-R720 and will be unveiled at the MWC. The device will reportedly sport a crown-shaped power button and a rotating bezel ring on the top. While the power button will have no special features apart from waking up the display, S-Voice launch or sending an emergency message, the bezel ring will provide certain interesting functions. The details about these functions are a mystery at this point.
There is no word on whether Orbis will run Android Wear or Tizen.
