LG has partnered with telecom operator KDDI to launch its first Firefox OS smartphone in the Japanese market. The Korean manufacturer on Monday introduced the new Fx0 smartphone, which will go on sale beginning December 25 in the country.

“We are very pleased to bring the first Firefox OS smartphone, based on Web technology standards, to the Japanese market today. KDDI hopes to build the new era of the Web through Web of Things, enabling everyone to create custom connected Web experiences,” said Takashi Tanaka, President of KDDI.

Mozilla, which manages the Firefox OS, stated that the LG Fx0 is the first high-spec Firefox OS smartphone, as most of the smartphones with the OS so far have been entry-level devices.

The LG Fx0 has been designed Tokujin Yoshioka and sports a transparent chassis and show the innards of the smartphone.

Coming to the specifications, the phone is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and comes with 4G LTE support, 1.5GB of RAM, and 4.7-inch IPS HD display. LG Fx0 also packs NFC support, 2370 mAh battery, Firefox OS 2.0, 8MP rear camera and 2.1MP front shooter. In addition, LG has included 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot.
