Android One program expands to Bangladesh, Nepal & Sri Lanka

Android One phonesGoogle on Monday announced that Android One phones are finally ready to debut outside the Indian market. Select Android One smartphones will be released in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka in the coming weeks.

“We’re taking another step toward reaching the next five billion people: in the coming weeks, the Android One devices will start to go on sale in India’s neighboring countries of Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka,” Google noted in a blog post.

According to Google, Bangladesh’s mobile phone maker Symphony will release its first Android One smartphone in the form of Symphony Roar A50 phone in the coming days, which is the fourth (fifth if you count Dream Uno H) Android one device till date after the Micromax, Karbonn and Spice phones.

The search giant has not offered any details about which phones will go on sale in which countries, but we can expect one or more of the existing Android One smartphone to be released in the three market.

Like India, the Android One phones will get affordable prices and offers from telecom operators in the three neighbouring countries. Bangladesh’s Banglalink has already been confirmed to be offering bundled data offers with Android One phones, no word about other countries at this point.
