OnePlus One to retail for INR 21,999 in India

Oneplus OneChinese smartphone maker OnePlus has revealed that its One smartphone will retail for INR 21,999 in the Indian market. The phone is all set to go on sale today at and it will be available to the consumers, who have been able to score an invite to purchase it.

Like the global sales, OnePlus is using the invite system to sell the OnePlus One in the country. The interested consumers can visit this link to request an invite. Invites will also be given out by the company on social media and official forum.

Originally introduced earlier this year, OnePlus One sports a 5.5-inch full HD display and comes with 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 4.4-based CyanogenMod 11s, but won’t be getting any CM updates in the future. OnePlus is working on an Android 5.0-based firmware for the phone, which will released sometime in February next year. The consumers will be able to use an online guide to update their phone from CM 11S to the Lollipop firmware or take their phone to a nearby service centre to get it upgraded free of cost.

According to OnePlus, it has partnered with HCL to provide service support for its One smartphone via twenty service centres across major cities in the country. The number of service centres will be increased going forward depending on the demand.

The company has stated that it will also begin the accessory sales at Amazon today. Some of these accessories are Flip Cover, Bamboo StyleSwap Cover, and Silver Bullet earphones.

“We are very excited to bring this much awaited phone for our customers in India. And we are having real fun with the unique marketing initiatives for the launch. It fits right into our philosophy of bringing wide and unique selections and experiences for our customers,” said Amit Agarwal, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India.

    • Yes, you should be able to, but OnePlus isn’t sure right now how CM plans to stop the updates for Indian users while still providing for global users as all OnePlus One phones (apart from those sold in China) are essentially the same. Until the specifics become clear, one can’t be 100 pc sure if you will be impacted, but ideally you should not.
