Motorola Droid Turbo is official

After a number of leaked and rumors, US telecom operator Verizon Wireless introduced the new Motorola Droid Turbo smartphone on Tuesday. Set for in-store and online availability beginning October 30, the phone starts $199.99 with the usual two-year contract.

Droid Turbo sports a 5.2-inch Quad-HD (2560x1440p) display with Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. The phone comes with 3900 mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, 32/ 64GB of internal storage, and Android 4.4.

In addition, Motorola has included 21MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, 2MP front shooter, 4G LTE and XLTE connectivity in the smartphone. According to Verizon, the Droid Turbo will be getting Android 5.0 update in the coming months.

This is not all, Droid Turbo comes with Ballistic Nylon or Metalized Glass Fiber reinforced with DuPont Kevlar fiber on the back as well as a water-repellent nanocoating protecting the inside. Motorola has also packed a turbo charging feature for quick charging as well as wireless charging support in the phone.

“There’s a certain expectation when a smartphone carries the DROID name – strength, endurance, intelligence, and detail. The new XLTE-ready DROID Turbo by motorola carries all these traits and will be available exclusively on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network,” Verizon noted in a press release.

According to Verizon, the 32GB model of the smartphone will be available in Metallic Black, Metallic Red, and Black Ballistic Nylon variants and the 64GB version will arrive in Black Ballistic Nylon variant.

If they release the GSM version of this phone in International market and with unlockable bootloader (Verizon model doesn’t have), I will buy it for sure….
