After recruiting former Googler Jai Mani to look after the Product Management in India, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has hired Spotify’s Donovan Sung to lead the international product development. Sung is also a former Googler and worked with the search giant between 2008 and 2012.
According to a report in TechCrunch, Donovan Sung will be joining Xiaomi’s HQ in Beijing in second week of November. In addition to Spotify and Google, Sung has also worked with Microsoft, IBM and Kingston in the past. He has completed his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC, Berkeley and is fluent in English as well as Mandarin, which will certainly come in handy while working at Xiaomi.
There is no word on what exactly Sung will be working on at Xiaomi but he could be involved in the company’s cloud-based services.
Although Xiaomi is yet to officially announce Sung’s hiring, he had recently revealed his departure from Spotify on Facebook.
