Within minutes of Google’s Android 5.0 announcement, Motorola Mobility has confirmed that it will be releasing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for all of post-Google acquisition smartphones. These phones include Moto E, Moto G (2013, 2014, LTE version), Moto X (2013, 2014) as well as Droid Maxx, Droid Mini and Droid Ultra.
“Now that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be going to the world with Nexus 6—a product of some of our own engineering—we are excited to confirm that this latest and greatest Android release will also come to our other devices as part of our ongoing software strategy to provide fast updates to our pure Android experience,” Motorola’s Steve Horowitz wrote in a blog post.
Motorola has not shared any timelines for the Lollipop update at this point but if the company’s track record is any indication, we should start seeing the update roll-out soon after the Nexus 6 launch.
To remind you, Android 5.0 is the biggest Android release till date and includes some major improvements and new features like material design, better security, battery saver mode, ART as default runtime, guest mode and more.
