HTC announces Eye Experience and Zoe 1.0

HTC EYE ExperienceAt a New York press event earlier Thursday, HTC unveiled its new Eye Experience for smartphones. HTC claims that Eye Experience is aimed at taking the mobile imaging software to a whole new level.

It is basically a suite of new imaging software enhancements and applications that will be available on the HTC smartphones. Desire Eye will be the first phone to get it and then it will be rolled-out to select HTC phones in the coming months. These phones are HTC One, HTC One M8, HTC One E8, HTC One mini, HTC One Mini 2, HTC One Max, HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 820, and HTC Butterfly 2.

HTC Eye Experience includes enhancements like Auto and Voice Selfie, enhanced group video calls, Split capture, Crop me in, Face Fusion, Live Makeup, and Photo Booth.

Auto and Voice Selfie: With Auto selfie mode, the users just have to raise their phone and smile to take a selfie. No need to tap anything or do anything. With voice-selfie, you can take a selfie by giving a voice-command.

Enhanced group video calls: This new enhancement from HTC aims to make the video chat experience better by adding features like Face Tracking, Screen Share and more. It is compatible with most of the popular video call services like Skype, Hangouts, WeChat, Line and more.

Split Capture: As the name suggests, the feature lets the users take simultaneous images or video from both front and rear camera.

Crop Me In: It allows the users to put themselves in a photograph.

Face Fusion: It is another gimmicky feature from HTC and lets the users fuse two faces on their phone into a single photograph.

Live Makeup: It is automatic tool to beautify you while taking a selfie.

Photo Booth: This selfie effect captures four consecutive photos in a single image to give that retro photo booth kind of effect.

Along with the Eye Experience, HTC revealed that Zoe video sharing & editing app is no longer in beta and the stable version can now be grabbed from Google Play. An iOS version is expected to hit later this year. Zoe 1.0 is compatible with most Android phones running version 4.3 or above.

“With the new Zoe collaborative video-editing app it’s easy to remix your photos and videos into stylish highlight reels, with beautiful themes and soundtracks that can be shared. Allowing friends to remix their content with yours, Zoe creates the ultimate highlight video for you to enjoy and share through your favorite social networks,” HTC noted in a blog post.
