Sony unveils Xperia Z3 family of Android devices

Sony Xperia Z3 FamilyAs expected, Sony announced the new Xperia Z3 family of Android devices at its IFA press event in Berlin today. The Z3 family includes Xperia Z3 (5.2-inch), Xperia Z3 Compact (4.6-inch) and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact (8-inch) devices.

Set to go on sale later this autumn, the new devices come with similar internals like 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, water and dust resistance, high-resolution audio support, and 2.2MP front camera.

Among other specs, the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact smartphones include 20.7MP rear camera with 25mm Sony G lens & support for up to 12800 ISO setting, whereas Z3 Tablet Compact will feature an 8.1 rear camera.

On the software front, all of Xperia Z3 family is on the same level. All devices run on Android 4.4.4 with Sony’s basic customisations and media apps.  Sony is however introducing a new feature called PS4 Remote Play, which will be available on all devices and allow the consumers to play their PS4 games right on their smartphone or tablet. The new GM10 Game Control Mount will also let the consumers attach DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller to their smartphones and tablet.

According to Sony, the Xperia Z3 will be released in Black, White, Green and Copper colour options, while Xperia Z3 Compact will arrive in Orange, Green, Black and White colours. The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will however only be released in White and Black. There is no word on pricing.
