HTC to launch its first 64-bit smartphone at IFA

64-bit HTC smartphone teaserHTC has started teasing the release of its first 64-bit Android smartphone, which it claims is also world’s first, at the upcoming IFA trade fair in Berlin. As per the company’s posts on Chinese social network Weibo, the smartphone will be unveiled on September 4. To remind you, HTC has already sent out invites for a press event on September 4.

HTC’s teaser coincides with a similar teaser from Qualcomm, which is also highlighting the release of first octa-core 64-bit smartphone. The Qualcomm teaser states that this upcoming smartphone will be powered by its Snapdragon 615 processor, which packs the industry’s first dual quad-core 64 bit capable CPU architecture. Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 packs four 1.7GHz ARM Cortex A53 cores and four 1.0GHz A53 cores and it is both 32-bit and 64-bit capable, of which HTC seems to have gone for 64-bit.

While the exact branding of this upcoming HTC smartphone is unclear, the company has also been teasing something with numbers 8, 2 and 0, which, as per several online reports, is actually an indication to Desire 820.

Could Desire 820 be HTC’s (or world’s) first octa-core 64-bit Android smartphone? May be, however given the lack of more convincing evidence, we will like to wait for the official event to get official details directly from the horse’s mouth.
