Alcatel One Touch launches Hero and Idol-series in India

Alcatel One Touch HeroAlcatel One Touch today unveiled the Hero and Idol-series smartphones for the Indian market at a press event in Mumbai today. Alcatel One Touch is a brand of Hong Kong-based TCL Communication.

The company is releasing the Alcatel One Touch Hero, One Touch Idol X, One Touch Idol S and One Touch Idol mini smartphones in the country, which were originally announced last year. Idol X is particularly quite old. In fact, the company has already launched its successor in the form of Idol X+.

Talking about Alcatel OT Hero first, the phone features a 6-inch full HD display 2GB of RAM, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 13MP rear camera, 8/ 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, Android 4.2, and 3400 mAh battery. It will retail for INR 30,000 in the country.

Idol X: 5-inch 1080p full HD edge-to-edge display, 13MP rear camera (8MP variant too), 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, 2000 mAh battery and 7.1mm thick body.

Idol S: 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage.

Idol Mini: 4.3-inch FWVGA display, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage.

“We are delighted to launch our series of smartphones specially designed to cater to the demands of the Indian customers. ALCATEL ONE TOUCH brings a great value product by redefining user experience with its innovative design, display and technology,” said Steven Zhao, Country Manager APAC – India Business Unit.

“There is a huge demand for smartphones in India and the company is targeting teenagers and youths. The company hopes to sell 5,00,000 pieces of smartphones by December 2014,” Zhao added.

The company has not shared the exact prices of Idol-series but has stated that the pricing starts INR 10,000.
