Gionee brings Android 4.4 to its Pioneer P4 smartphone

Gionee Pioneer P4 KitKat updateChinese smartphone maker Gionee has announced that it has started rolling out Android 4.4 update for its Pioneer P4 smartphone in the Indian market. The update is now available over-the-air (OTA) and is around 808MB in size.

“We are delighted to announce, that keeping true to our promise of bringing the very best of Android experience to all Gionee smartphones, we have released an OTA update to bring the Gionee Pioneer P4 up to the paces with the latest and greatest in the Android world with Android 4.4 KitKat,” the company said in a statement.

In addition to platform specific improvements, the KitKat update also enhances the general performances of the smartphone and brings a host of new features.  You can check out the update highlights below:

  • New home-screen layout
  • Added Touchpad inputs method for faster and more efficient typing experience.
  • Removed the world cricket champion and Real football game
  • Updated Amigo paper with a brand new UI design
  • Updated Game Zone with a new UI design.
  • Updated Gionee Xender for optimized performance and further improved the linking success rate
  • Updated UC browser with optimized UI interface and page loading effects
  • Updated NQ mobile security for better protection of your phone
  • Updated Kingsoft Office for more efficient work and study related operations
  • Added two games : Hitout Heroes and TexasPoker
  • Updated WeChat with new interactive interface for smoother communication
  • Updated Map with only one entrance into the main menu
  • Theme and wallpaper will be reset to default after system update, but data will not be lost. Simply re-apply chosen theme and wallpaper.
