Goes on sale in Japan on Aug 29, coming to US soon
Japanese telecom operator Softbank on Monday unveiled the new Aquos Crystal smartphone. Made by Sharp, the smartphone has been developed in partnership with US telecom operator Sprint, thus will also be releasing in the US in addition to Japan.
As you can see in the above image, there is practically no bezel present on the three-sides of the smartphone. The bezel on one side is a necessity, to put front-camera, ear-piece and sensors.
The smartphone will be released in Japan on August 29 via Softbank and will be coming to Sprint in the US soon after. Sprint is hosting a press event tomorrow, where it is expected that the telecom operator will unveil the new smartphone.
Coming to the specifications, the phone features a 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. The phone also comes with 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, Android 4.4.2, 4G LTE support and microSD card slot. The phone weighs just 140 grams and is 10mm thick. On the imaging front, 8MP rear camera and 1.2MP front shooter are present on the phone.
Softbank is also bundling the Herman Carden Onyx Studio wireless speaker with the phone.
In addition to Aquos Crystal, Softbank has also unveiled the Aquos Crystal X smartphone, which will be arriving in December, 2014. The phone features a 5.5-inch full HD display, 13MP rear camera, and Android 4.4.
