Samsung Galaxy AlphaSamsung has introduced the new Galaxy Alpha smartphone today. It will go on sale next month i.e. September and will be released in a total of 150 markets, however there is no word on which countries will get it first.

Featuring a metal frame, the Galaxy Alpha sports a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and 1860 mAh battery. The smartphone also comes with Android 4.4.4, 12MP rear camera, 2.1MP front snapper and LTE support. The new Galaxy Alpha is powered by 1.3GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor and weighs just 115 grams. In addition, the smartphone includes a fingerprint scanner and heart-rate sensor. The company has stated that Galaxy Alpha could include 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor in select markets.

On the software front, Samsung has included the usual enhancements like Ultra-Power Saving Mode, S Health, Private Mode and support for Samsung wearables.

“The Galaxy Alpha was built and designed based on the specific desires of the consumer market. With an entirely new appearance, the Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality combining a stunning metal frame and slim, light weight design with the same powerful hardware and features users expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics.

According to Samsung, Galaxy Alpha will be available in five colour options – White, Gold, Silver, Blue, and Black.

  1. got to love Samsung’s speech. new appearance, desires of consumer market and the most ridiculous word “functionality”. so a few months down the line from S5 they suddenly realize 5.1″ is big or oval corners hampers usage. according to their logic heartbeat sensor crap >>> expandable storage or on screen keys. WOW
    Lastly it use the same chipset as S5. where the hell is Exynos 5433 !!!
