Xiaomi to unveil Mi 4 on July 22

Within ten months of introducing its Mi 3 smartphone, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is ready with the successor. The company is holding a press event on July 22, where it will be unveiling Mi 4, its next flagship model.

The company founder and CEO Jun Lei earlier today shared a teaser for the event on his Weibo account. The teaser reveals little and just says – “The journey of a piece of steel metal,” which is in line with the rumours of Mi 4 sporting a metal chassis.

The exact specifications are a mystery at this point but as per reports until now, the upcoming Xiaomi flagship will feature a 5.5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4 based MIUI OS.

The pricing is expected to be aggressive like Mi 3 and the phone will probably retail around $330 as did Mi 3 initially.

The Mi 4 will first go on sale in China but we can expect the phone to head over to other markets where Xiaomi currently operates within a month or two.

Thanks Mohan for the tip

  1. If its going to be 5.5″, then I will be happy with Mi3… Further there is NOT much real-world performance difference between Snapdragon 800 and 801, imho…

  2. so xiaomi also thinks of India as their dumping ground by launching mi3 when they are just about to launch mi4 in china?

i hope they launch mi4 in India at the same time.
