LG has announced that it is starting the global roll-out of the new G Pad 10.1 Android tablet. It will first go on sale in the United States followed by markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America later this month.
The company has not revealed the pricing, which will be shared by the local arms shortly.
Originally introduced in May 2014, the G Pad 10.1 features a 10.1-inch HD IPS display, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage and microSD card slot. The tablet also packs 8000 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera.
G Pad 10.1 runs on Android 4.4.2 and comes with several of LG’s software customisations like QPair 2.0, Smart Keyboard, Touch & Shoot, Gesture Shot, Dual Window, and Knock Code.
“Consumers use tablets differently from smartphones and we wanted to highlight the important role of entertainment in the new LG G Pad 10.1. Tablets are increasingly being used as companion devices, which is why we made connecting the LG G Pad 10.1 to other devices so easy and convenient and why LG G Pad 10.1 offers the best core technologies of our G series smartphones,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
