Samsung has unveiled a new variant of its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone in the form of Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport. It will be exclusively released on US telecom operator Sprint and is compatible with the operator’s Spark 4G LTE network.
The phone is basically same as the retail Galaxy S5 apart from some aesthetic changes including Galaxy S5 Active like physical Android buttons and a textured back. Sprint claims that the textured back makes the phone easier to hold and prevents it from slipping from the hand.
The specifications include Android 4.4.2, 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974AB processor, 5.1-inch Super AMOLED full HD display, and 2GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 16MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter and IP67 water and dust resistance. In addition, the phone includes a heart-rate sensor.
According to Sprint, Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport will go on sale staring July 25 for $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $27.09. The operator is also bundling free year of MapMyFitness MVP and 6-months of Spotify premium.
The back is less uglier than OG S5, imho…
