The Wall Street Journal is reporting that US telecom operator AT&T will be exclusively carrying the upcoming Amazon smartphone. AT&T also provides cellular service for Amazon’s Kindle e-readers and tablets.
Set to be unveiled on June 18, the rumoured Amazon smartphone will feature multiple camera sensors on the front, which will track the face and retina movement of the users, to help the phone software manipulate the interface to make it feel three-dimensional. The exact working of these sensors is unclear at this point, but we hope to learn more at tomorrow’s press event.
According to the WSJ, the Amazon smartphone will begin shipping in September, however there is no word on when the pre-orders will start.
As per previous reports, the phone will come with 4.7-inch 720p HD display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and Fire OS (based on Android). There is no word on the pricing, which is going to be a key-factor in the success of the phone.
