Google Now begins suggesting events based on Gmail conversations

Event Suggestions in Google NowGoogle has decided to make Google Now even smarter by adding calendar event suggestions. The company is currently testing the feature with limited number of users, who are getting event suggestions in Google Now based on their Gmail conversations.

As you can see in the screenshot above, Google Now suggests whether you want to add a particular event to your calendar. If you say yes, it will make a new calendar entry, in which you can select to be notified before the event.

This is particularly useful for folks like me who often forget to make calendar entries and thus end us missing some events.  There is also an option to turn off the feature if you don’t use your device calendar and won’t like unnecessary notifications from Google Now.

There is no word on when the feature will be rolled out to everyone but we expect to see in the coming weeks, probably in time for Google I/O.
