Asus announces Padfone S and refreshed Zenfone smartphones

The Taiwanese manufacturer Asus has started its Computex 2014 journey with the unveiling of the new versions of its Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 4 smartphones today. Set to go on sale in late-Q3, these smartphones will be released in select markets.

Talking about the new Asus Zenfone 5 LTE first (A500KL), it keeps the same design as the non-LTE version but replaces the Intel Atom processor with 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400. Other specifications remain same as the previously launched version, which include 5-inch HD display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. The phone will come pre-loaded with Android 4.4.

Coming to Zenfone 4, which hasn’t seen any major changes like Zenfone 5 but now includes a newer Intel processor. The exact processor details are unknown as at this point but we are trying to find out and will update the post as soon as we learn something.

Asus hasn’t announced the pricing details, which will be revealed at the local launch events of these smartphones.

Asus Padfone S

Along with the upgraded smartphones, Asus has also introduced the new Padfone S today. It will go on sale sometime in Q3 this year. A smartphone-tablet hybrid, Padfone S, like all other Padfone devices, comes with a tablet dock.

Coming to the specifications, the Asus Padfone S smartphone includes a 5-inch display, 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 13MP rear camera, 2300 mAh battery and 2GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 4.4. On the other hand, tablet dock includes a 4990 mAh battery and 8.9-inch full HD display.

There is no word on pricing right now.
