When the home-grown smartphone makers like Micromax and Lava realise the threat posed by phones like Moto E, how can Samsung be left behind. The company is working on a new smartphone with model numbers – SM-G357M, SM-G357F and SM-G350E – which will be competing in the entry-level segment.
As per a GFXbench database sighting, this smartphone will come with a 4.3-inch WVGA display, dual-core 1.2GHz Renesas MP5232 SoC ((Cortex A9) with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU, and Android 4.4.2. The phone will also pack 1GB of RAM, 8GB of on-board storage, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera and the usual connectivity options.
Some of these specifications like Android version and display resolution have also been confirmed in a user-agent profile on Samsung website. If the import listings for the sample units on Zauba.com are any indication, Samsung has been working on the phone since last year and we could see an announcement soon, which is further confirmed by the presence of the phone in Samsung Sweden support website.
There is no word on the final branding or pricing at this point but we are activly tracking the phone and will let you know as soon as we hear something.
