Motorola’s “priced for all” smartphone coming on May 13

Moto E launch invite for India

Is likely to be the rumoured Moto E

Update: Hot on the heels of London event invites, Motorola has also started sending out invites to Indian tech press for a parallel launch in New Delhi on the same day. Looks like India will be among the first wave of countries to get this upcoming Motorola budget smartphone. We will know more on May 13.

Earlier: On the one hand manufacturers like LG are gearing up to announce their flagship smartphone next month, Motorola seems to be planning to jump further down the price-bracket with its upcoming smartphone.

The company has started sending out invites for a press event scheduled for May 13 in London to announce a “priced for all (sic)” smartphone. While we can’t be certain, the invite is probably indicating towards the rumoured Moto E smartphone, which will undercut Moto G in pricing and will pack slightly inferior specifications.

Buoyed by the success of Moto G, Motorola is betting big on budget smartphones, which is one segment largely ignored by the global smartphone players and we hardly see any decent devices in the price-bracket. With a lot of smartphone shipments coming from the entry-level segment in emerging markets like India, Motorola is clearly aiming at the right spot.

As per a recent leak, Motorola’s upcoming budget smartphone will come with 4.3-inch display, dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and Android 4.4. The phone will also reportedly feature 5MP rear camera, FM Radio, Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth. Other specifications are a mystery at this point however we do know that the phone will be released in single-SIM, dual-SIM as well as dual-SIM + Digital TV variants.

With the event less than two weeks away, we won’t have to wait for long.
