Acer announces Iconia Tab 7 and Iconia One 7 Android tablets

Acer has unveiled two new budget Android tablets Iconia Tab 7 and Iconia One 7 at a press event in New York just now.  Set to go on sale in the coming weeks, the new tablets come with entry-level specifications.

Talking about the tablets in detail, Acer Iconia One 7 aka B1-730 features Android 4.2, 7-inch 1280x800p display, dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor, front and rear cameras as well as microSD card slot

The company has stated that it will be rolling-out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the One 7 but did not specify when. The Acer Iconia One 7 will first be released in Europe, Middle East and Africa in middle of May with prices starting at €139, followed by Pan American markets at the end of June with prices starting at US$129.99.

“Since the beginning, Acer’s mission has been to break down the barriers between people and technology and make the latest technologies accessible to all people. The new Iconia One 7 is a great example of how we continue this heritage by offering mobile devices with great functionality, unique designs and excellent value,” said Maverick Shih, president of Acer’s BYOC and Tablet Business Group.

Coming to Iconia Tab 7, the tablet comes in two variants with 7-inch display, quad-core MediaTek processor, 3G, and voice-calling support. Acer will first release the HD resolution version (packs 1280 x 800 IPS anti-fingerprint display, 5 MP rear camera, Android 4.4) in Europe, Middle East and Africa in middle of May with prices starting at €149, followed by 1024x600p version (features 1024 x 600 display, 2 MP rear camera, Android 4.2, upgradable to Android 4.4) in Latin American markets at the end of June with prices starting at 1,990 MX Peso.
