Nokia India on Monday announced the launch of its Nokia X smartphone in the country. Available immediately, this Android phone from the Finnish manufacturer has been priced at INR 8,599.
Originally announced at Mobile World Congress last month, Nokia X features a forked version of Android 4.1.2, 4-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM and dual-core processor.
The smartphone also comes with 3MP rear camera, dual-SIM support, 3G and 1500 mAh battery. On the software front, Nokia has bundled its own apps and services on the phone along with a Nokia branded Android app store. The phone won’t have official access to Google services or apps but given the fact that it allows sideloading of Android applications, it isn’t hard to get Google apps working on the phone.
Nokia is also bundling 10GB of free OneDrive storage with Nokia X smartphone as well as lifetime free access to Mixradio.
The phone will be sold in multiple colour options including Cyan, Yellow, Green, White, Red and Black.

Exactly, I was expecting decent pricing this time at least for Nokia X series, but they did it again alike of Lumia series, first release for higher price and later a month you can get it for lesser price.
I strongly believe its price will gradually come down to at least Rs. 6999, after just two months of store availability.

I think just the Nokia brand name will sell a lot of these devices in the coming months, but personally, I’ll wait for the Asus Zenfones to be released and check their prices.
The Zenphone 5 with a 5″ HD screen and 1GB RAM and an 8MP camera with a 2Ghz Intel Atom (Clover Trail+) processor will be MUCH faster than any of these other options from Nokia, LG, Sony or Samsung. Will cost only around 10-11K.
For the more budget oriented, the Zenfone 4 will probably cost 6-7K and will
have the same chipset clocked at 1.2Ghz, a 4″ WVGA screen and 1GB RAM
with a 5MP camera. Yes, a decent camera and much faster CPU with twice the RAM for only ~7K.
The Zenphone 6 will probably compete with the Moto G in terms of it’s
price on release. All of them will be running Jelly Bean 4.3 at launch
and will get the Kit Kat treatment after release as promised by Asus.
If you’re not really hell bent on a Droid, then the Lumia 520 still makes great sense @ 7.5K right now. Much more sophisticated device with a much better camera and guaranteed WP8.1 update.
So basically, these are sort of “na ghar ke na ghat ke” type contraptions, the only reasons for buying which would be ‘possible’ future development on XDA/CM etc.
