As you might have already read, Samsung has introduced two new Gear smartwatches today. Set to go on sale in April, 2014, these wearables will be succeeding the company’s original Galaxy Gear device.
While many of the features in Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are same as Galaxy Gear, the major change is the underlying platform. The company has opted for Tizen in Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo instead of Android, which was present in Galaxy Gear. Because of this change, the branding of the smartwatch is now also missing ‘Galaxy,’ which is used by Samsung only with Android devices. Also, the new Gear watches come with IR transmitter, which is positive addition and will allow consumers to control their TV, Set top box and other remote controlled appliances via their Gear smartwatch.
