Samsung announces Galaxy Tab for Education in US

Samsung Galaxy Tab for EducationSamsung has announced the new Galaxy Tab for Education today in the United States. To be available in time for 2014-2015 academic year, this tablet is being launched as part of Google Play for Education program.

This is the second 10.1-inch tablet to become available for deployment in schools as a part of Google Play for Education, other is Asus Transformer Pad, which too is arriving this year.

According to a press release issued by the company, the Samsung Galaxy Tab for Education runs on Android 4.4 and features a 10.1-inch WXGA display, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, rear camera, front-facing camera, and NFC.  Other specifications include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 6800 mAh battery.

“Samsung and Google for Education share a commitment to delivering innovative learning experiences to improve student outcomes. The new Galaxy Tab with Google Play for Education integration was created to specifically address the needs of today’s schools and support our vision for powering education by empowering educators,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division.
