XOLO launches Q500 with Snapdragon 200 quad-core CPU for INR 7,999

XOLO Q500XOLO has introduced a new Q-Core series smartphone today in the form of XOLO Q500. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor and has got a price-tag of INR 7,999.

XOLO Q500 also features 4-inch WVGA display, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, Android 4.1, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. In addition, the phone comes with microSD card slot, 1450 mAh battery, dual-SIM support and the usual set of connectivity options including 3G.

Looking at the specifications, apart from the presence of Android 4.1, the phone looks quite decent and presence of Snapdragon 200 in the world of MediaTek processor-powered budget phones is a positive.

According to XOLO, Q500 comes with X-TransPic mobile application, a language translation tool that helps users translate Hindi words by just pointing the app camera at any sign board, advertisement or poster. This functionality works even when the phone is not connected to the internet. The X-TransPic mobile application will be available on all XOLO’s upcoming Snapdragon devices.

  1. So many things wrong with the specs, I don’t even know were to start!

    For starters, QVGA (320×240) for a 4″ screen! What the massive ginormous F****!!! I thought WVGA (800×480) was pretty much the accepted norm for 4 inchers at any price range. What am I gonna do with a Snapdragon 200 quad with a 4″ screen at that pitiful resolution?

    Also, last year’s OS? Seriously? With Kit Kat out and about, you’d have expected something better than 4.1 even at this price range 😦

    Also, the RAM will prolly be only 512 to 768 MB. And the camera will be just as noisy and unusable even in broad daylight. Seriously, would it have killed them to shove in the extra RAM and a better res screen with that processor to actually make it stand out from the crowd?
