Google Nexus 5 coming to India soon for INR 28,999

In a very surprising move, Google today revealed that it is bringing the newly announced Nexus 5 smartphone to India soon. The exact release date is unclear but we hope to hear something soon.

Google Nexus 5 has already been listed on the Indian Play Store with a ‘coming soon’ tag.

“We partnered with LG to develop Nexus 5 — the slimmest and fastest Nexus phone ever made. Its design is simple and refined to showcase the 5” Full HD display. Nexus 5 also keeps you connected at blazing speeds with 4G/LTE and ultra fast wifi,” Google noted in a blog post.

To remind you, Google Nexus is powered by 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor comes with 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and wireless charging support.

It is the first time that Google has revealed India release plans of any Nexus device with the global announcement.

Pricing:

Google Nexus 16GB version: INR 28,999, 32GB version: INR 32,999. The phone will sold in Black and White colour options. The pricing seems to be quite decent given the fact that Nexus 5 costs around INR 25K in US itself after the local taxes and shipping.

Indian market price is arnd $125 higher than that of US price. But still it’s at least 10k cheaper than any phone with similar specs in the indian market

It is heavily overpriced as always(33000 for 32 GB). Is there any confirmation that it will support Indian LTE? Otherwise it makes more sense to import form US.

All Indian 4G networks operate on TD-LTE technology and uses Band 40 (2300 MHz spectrum). Nexus 5 international as well as US version does NOT support Band 40 as clearly listed in device specs. So Nexus 5 can not run on existing Airtel and planned Reliance Jio 4G networks in India.

Why cant google sell Nexus 7 (2013) along with Nexus 5 in play store.. 🙁 One of best tablets is not available in India.. Please Google.!

the shipping cost and tax of nexus 5(16 GB) in us costs around $40 in us which makes the nexus 5 to be priced about $ (349+40) = $389 which in India is 24118 and the phone is listed at 28,999 in Indian play store.

My concern is will this be the final cost including taxes or we still have the tax which will take it to 31,000 in India ??
