Google to bring upgraded Glass hardware, offers free exchange to existing users

Google GlassGoogle has announced that it is soon going to release upgraded Google Glass with new hardware, which will work with future lines of shades and prescription frames. The company has also revealed that it will be offering the existing Google Glass buyers one-time option to swap out their existing Glass for a new one for free.

Google will be informing the existing Google Glass users about the swap-out some time next month. You can read more here. The company has not shared any images of the upgraded hardware at this point.

This is not all, Google has also stated that it plans to increase the number of Google Glass Explorers and thus, it is giving an opportunity to the existing Glass users to invite up to three friends, who want to purchase Google Glass. Living outside US, you are out of luck, Glass still remain a US-only device.

“We’ve been experimenting with ways to expand the Explorer Program and it’s been going really well. So over the next few weeks, all Explorers will have the opportunity to invite three friends to join the program. They’ll be able to buy Glass online and can have it shipped to their home, office, treehouse or igloo,” Google Glass team noted on their official Google+ page.
