HTC has released three new Android smartphones in the Chinese market, which are basically the same smartphone but for three different telecom operators in different chassis.

Dubbed as Desire 709d, Desire 7060 and Desire 7088, the phones feature 5-inch qHD Super LCD 2 display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of storage, and 8MP rear camera. They also come with 2.1MP front camera, 2100 mAh battery, dual-SIM support and dual-frontal speakers with HTC BoomSound.

The exact Android version of the phones is unclear but it seems to be Android 4.2 with Sense 5.0 on-board. The phones will be released on China Telecom (Desire709d), China Unicom (Desire 7060) and China Mobile (Desire 7088).

There is no word on the pricing right now or international availability but it is unlikely that the phones will never make it out of China.

  1. Hard to believe that this one won’t come to India. When it does, it could be just the competition that the Xperia C needs 🙂

Priced at under $300 (Rs. 18K), this will effectively kill off the Canvas 4, Pinnacle FHD, Titanium S9 etc. But something tells me that this will be priced at an inordinate premium as usual by HTC? 🙁

Also, this means that Samsung will have to release something a whole lot more impressive than the Grand Quattro at that price range to maintain leadership position in the category 🙂
