Downloads app in Android Google seems to be planning to make much-needed tweaks for several of Android features in the upcoming version Kitkat. We have already seen some of these tweaks in the previous leaks and now, a report from Android Police reveals that the native Download manager (known as Downloads) is also getting revamped.

The new version of Downloads app will come with an action bar with sort and view as grid options, light background and a tweaked icon.  Other details about the app are unclear at this moment but considering the official launch of Android 4.4 is expected sometime this month, we will not have to for long to know more.

  1. Google really needs to go more modular. That way a lot of the functionality of newer Android versions will be available for download to users still on older versions with no possibility of future updates from either the device manufacturer or support from the custom ROM community.

Whether it’s the D/L manager, Browser, Keyboard, Launcher or basically anything 🙂
