Samsung Galaxy Note 3We are yet to forget about Galaxy S4’s BenchmarkBooster program, Samsung has been accused once again of doctoring benchmarks. According to a report in Ars Technica, Samsung’s latest Android smartphone Note 3 comes with some hard-coded adjustments especially for benchmarking apps, which inflate the benchmarks upto 20 per cent.

The publication has found these so called “adjustments’ in the Snapdragon 800 version of Note 3 but they could very well be present in the Exynos 5 Octa version as well but it is yet to be confirmed.

“After a good bit of sleuthing, we can confidently say Samsung appears to be artificially boosting the US Note 3’s benchmark scores with a special, high-power CPU mode that kicks in when the device runs a large number of popular benchmarking apps,” Ron Amadeo of Ars wrote in a report.

“Normally, while the Note 3 is idling, three of the four cores shut off to conserve power; the remaining core drops down to a low-power 300MHz mode. However, if you load up just about any popular CPU benchmarking app, the Note 3 CPU locks into 2.3GHz mode, the fastest speed possible, and none of the cores ever shut off,” he added.

Samsung is yet to say anything about these accusations but we expect to see a reaction very soon. The company will probably want to justify it. You can read about the nitty-gritties of the benchmark boosting at the source.

  1. thats too bad. samsung is not a professional company they only wants money by faking customers

  2. it is not fraud. Most of the times we dont need rocket boost speed of cpu. If we keep processor on full load all the time, then it will drain battery in less than 1 hour. But on other side it is neccessary for a company to convey power of device to consumer by benchmarking apps.So showing your full power(may be overclocking cpu for some time)may not consider as fraud

    1. android os is enough for taking care of battery, but note 3 boosted benchmark only for some benchmark apps which is not professional.
