Sony today announced the launch of its flagship Xperia Z1 smartphone in the Indian market. The smartphone, which goes on sale today, has been priced at INR 44,990.
Originally showcased at Sony’s pre-IFA press event, Xperia Z1 succeeds the company’s previous flagship Xperia Z and brings quite a few improvements including a 20.7MP rear camera with 27mm wide angle Sony G Lens and F2.0 aperture.
Sony Xperia Z1 sports a 5-inch full HD TRILUMINOS Display for mobile and is powered by 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. It also comes with 3000 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, microSD card slot and Android 4.2.2.
Like the company’s majority of high-end smartphones, Xperia Z1 is also water and dust resistant (IP55 & IP58).
Sony is clearly highlighting its camera expertise with Xperia Z1 and has even included host of software tweaks that aim to improve the imaging experience of the consumers. Some of these features are Social Live (lets you broadcast live video from Xperia Z1 to Facebook), Info-eye (visual search function), Timeshift burst (capture 61 images in 2 seconds) and AR effect (overlays a selection of customizable animations to create pictures using Sony’s SmartAR augmented reality technology).
Sony’s smartphone might not filled with software tweaks like Samsung Galaxy devices, but still the company has included quite a few pre-loaded apps on the Xperia Z1 including its media apps suite, Sony Music with unlimited songs downloads and Sony Liv video-streaming.
Offers: As an introductory offer, Sony is bundling a free premium case, 5000mAh portable charger and Xperia Accidental Damage insurance with every Xperia Z1 smartphone. Sony has also partnered with Vodafone to provide 8GB of free data to Xperia Z1 buyers for a duration of two months.
Xperia Z1 buyers will also be able to download any five movies and Elysium from Sony store.
