Intex launches Aqua HD and Aqua i4 Android phones in India

Intex Aqua HDIntex today announced the launch of two new dual-SIM Android smartphones in the Indian market. Part of the company’s Aqua range, the new phones are Intex Aqua HD and Intex Aqua i4. According to Intex, both phones will be available in the coming days.

Intex has also revealed that with the latest launches, it plans to sell 3 lakh smartphones next month in the country.

“With festive season around the corner, we are planning to sell 3 lakh smartphones in the month of October, 2013.” said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head- Mobile, Intex Technologies.

Coming to the smartphones, Intex Aqua HD features a 4.7-inch IPS 720p HD display, Android 4.2, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 1800 mAh battery. The phone also packs 4GB of storage, usual connectivity options, 13MP rear camera, and 5MP front camera. It has been priced at INR 15,900.

For the given specifications, Intex has kept a pretty decent price and it should help the phone in competing with more popular smartphones like Canvas HD from Micromax.

Next up is Intex Aqua i4, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display, Android 4.2, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 2000 mAh battery and 8MP rear camera. The smartphone also features 1.3MP front camera, and microSD card slot. The smartphone will sell for INR 9,490.

The company has also pre-loaded quite a few software tweaks and apps on these smartphones like ‘Lookaway,’ which allows device to pause content and ensures one does not misses on videos in the event of interruption or distraction (similar to Samsung’s Smart Pause) and ‘My Screen,’ which makes multitasking easy.
