BBM for AndroidMicromax has announced that it will pre-load BlackBerry Messenger for Android on its Canvas-series of smartphones beginning first week of October. The existing users can download the app from Google Play once it goes live on September 21.

“We have built a strong mobile ecosystem for our users, which not only drives them to buy our products, but also builds a connection with the brand by massifying and democratizing technology in India. Bringing one of the most popular mobile messaging services with BBM on our smartphones is yet another effort to expand our bouquet of messaging services for our consumers to connect and communicate seamlessly with their loved ones,” said Deepak Mehrotra, CEO, Micromax.

While, this news is good for BlackBerry and Micromax, I am not sure how useful it is for the consumers when BBM for Android is going to be available for free in Google Play.  It will just increase the amount of bloatware on the smartphones for the consumers who don’t want BBM.
