Huawei announces new Ascend G700 and G610 smartphones

Huawei Ascend G700 and G610Huawei unveiled two new mid-range Android smartphones with dual-SIM support in Taiwan today. Part of the company’s Ascend series, the new Ascend G700 and G610 will go on sale later this month in the country.

Huawei has only officially revealed the Taiwanese launch plans and not stated anything about the release in other countries; however Unwired View found both phones selling on Amazon US and Ascend G700 on Amazon Germany. Amazon US is actually selling the Snapdragon powered variant of G610, called Ascend G610S.

Coming to the smartphone specifications, both Ascend G700 and G610 run on Android 4.2 and are powered by 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor.

With the launch of Ascend G700 and G610, Huawei smartphone release count for this year in Taiwan reached ten, according to a previous company statement, we can expect at least two more phones before the end-of-2013.

The company has set a sales target of 200,000 smartphones for Taiwanese market and it is confident that it will be able to achieve it.

Taiwan pricing: According to Huawei, Ascend G700 and Ascend G610 will be go on sale at contract-free retail prices of NT$9,900 (US$330) and NT$6,900 (US$232) respectively.

Amazon US Prices: Unlocked G700 has been priced at US$282.99 and G610 costs $249.99.
