Sony ‘lens-cameras’ leaked in promo shots, can be attached to smartphones

Sony DSC-QX100 DSC-QX10 Lens CamerasLooks like Sony is planning an interesting reveal for its IFA press event. The company is reportedly going to announce two lenses, which are actually full-fledged cameras without view-finder/ display or controls. These lens-cameras can be attached to any smartphone or tablet to control them via Wi-Fi or NFC.

According to a report in Sony Alpha Rumours, dubbed as DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100, these lenses will come with built-in sensor, Bionz image processor, Wi-Fi/NFC and SD card slot. These are magnetically attached to smartphones or tablets and function like any point-and-shoot camera.

In other details, the bigger lens-cameras in above photo uses a 1-inch sensor, which is also used in Nikon 1 system. On the other hand, the second lens-camera packs a 10x zoom lens with 1/2, 3-inch 18 megapixel CMOS sensor.

Sony Honami (i1) also spotted in the leaked promo images
