Cleartrip has released an update for its official Android app in Google Play. This update not only bumps the version number to 3.0 but also brings train ticket booking support within the app.
According to the change-log posted on Google Play, app users can now search and book Indian Railways tickets. In addition, they will also be able to able to check PNR status of the wait-list tickets in the app.
Like the website, users also need to connect their IRCTC account with Cleartrip account on the app to continue with the train booking. The latest update includes some bug-fixes.
To remind you, Cleartrip Android app also allows users to book air tickets – both domestic and international.
As far as we know, Cleartrip seems to be the only Android app right now to book train tickets in Google Play Store. Rest all applications that claim to offer ticket booking, redirect users to the IRCTC mobile website.
With the recent launch of booking via SMS and USSD, we would love to see train app developers integrate that to offer ticket bookings to the consumers.
