Panasonic P51 launchPanasonic has revealed that it plans to launch eight more smartphones in the Indian market this year. These smartphones will be priced between INR 6,990 and INR 35,000, company executives announced at the launch of P51, its first Android phone in the country.

The Japanese manufacturer has just re-entered the Indian mobile space, it earlier used to sell feature-phones in the country. With the growing demand of smartphones all over, the company is looking to get back in the game.

Panasonic’s India smartphone efforts are particularly interesting in the wake of its departure from the European market last year after releasing just two smartphones in the region. Looks like, it really thinks that it can succeed in the country, which is currently dominated by Samsung and the local handset makers.

The company also announced at the P51 launch event that it is eyeing 8 per cent of the Indian smartphone market share in the first year.

“It has always been our endeavor to excel in all aspects of consumer technology. The launch of Panasonic Smartphone in India marks the beginning of our journey in the Indian mobile phone market and will bring together the ultimate smartphone user experience. The smartphone series will come power-packed with features and will cater to the consumers across the spectrum – from mid-tier to the premium class. With an aim to garner a market share of 8% in the first year, this product will showcase the convergence of Panasonic’s pioneering technology and consumer insight,” said Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India.

    1. let them waste some money dude Indian Advertisers are hungry and need some jobs too 😉
let them burn their hands to understand that the Indian consumer is well informed and very tech savy (common Panasonic a country which has largest IT work force do you think they are blindly going to buy these things?)

  1. No way if they want 8 pc of market sare then they have to compromise on price coz there are many and more competition in the market even the chinese companies like Meizu and Oppo are here in India to try their luck and Panasonic is too late but still if their pricing is right then they will b hit in the Indian Market or else they are gone !!!

  2. Capturing 8% of Indian Smartphone market with phones at double the price of its competitors (P51 vs Canvas HD) is ALWAYS POSSIBLE, in their dreams….
