Sony has started rolling-out a new software version for its flagship Xperia Z smartphone. The update, which is available over-the-air, was also released for Xperia ZL smartphone last week.
There is no change-log available right now, but speculation is that this firmware brings the fix for sudden death issue plaguing the Sony Xperia Z smartphone. Sony had earlier acknowledged the issue and had promised to bring a fix for the same at the earliest.
The update packs mainly big-fixes and there are no visible changes. Currently being released in Netherlands, it should reach other markets in the coming weeks.
Update Details:
- Android version: Remains at Android 4.1.2
- Kernel: 3.4.0
- Build number: 10.1.A.1.434
In related news, If the German arm of Sony is to be believed, Sony Xperia S Jelly Bean update is expected to be released later this month. The update will finally take this ICS running smartphone to Android 4.1.
Xperia Z does not run ICS, it runs jellybean 4.1, the update they are most likely talking about is the jellybean 4.2 update, which is about as significant as 4.0 (ICS) was to 4.1 despite carrying the same moniker as 4.1.
