HTC Butterfly coming to India by Jan-end for INR 44,000

HTC-Butterfly_indiaHTC is planning to launch its flagship Android smartphone “Butterfly” in the Indian market this month. Well-placed sources have revealed to us that the smartphone will be priced around INR 44,000 in the country.

Originally released in Japan with the name “J Butterfly”, HTC Butterfly was announced for the international markets in the early December, 2012. Company has since released it in many countries including China and Taiwan. It has also been launched in US under the name “Droid DNA.”

Featuring a 5-inch 1920x1080p display, HTC Butterfly comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with microSD card slot. Apart from Beats Audio and the usual connectivity options, the Butterfly also packs 8MP rear camera, and 2.1MP front shooter with full HD support for video chatting. On the batter front, there is a 2020 mAh battery, which looks a little under-whelming.

While the features of the smartphone are certainly enticing, the pricing, which we have heard is not so much. An INR 44K price will make HTC Butterfly the most expensive Android smartphone in the country. We hope that HTC changing its mind about the price, but it looks highly unlikely.

The official launch is expected in the next two weeks and the phone is likely to go on sale the same day.

  1. I don’t think that 44K price tag is correct. 37-38K will be Okay IMO. It is too hefty for a android phone without even a SD card and such a pity battery. If HTC launch that at such a price, failure is guaranteed. Moreover much better phone is around the corner aka xperia Z.

    • There is already a product in 40K price point for htc, which is One X+ with a bigger storage and less specs compared to Butterfly. So i guess the price will be around 40. and this might force htc to make a price cut for One X+. and IMO When Xperia Z launches they will make a price cut to hurt the sony Sales. I think there is much time for htc to make money, hence Sony doesn’t launch all the products in India like Xperia T, TX or what ever letter is left out.

  2. Did not mention the break through feature about this phone, the 5 inch display boasts 440 ppi which is better than retina display 320 ppi, the screen is absolutely way ahead in terms of competition, display of HTC phones is always better than any one else,, did you know about that or you want to critisize HTC just because its not worth value for money, don’t worry Samsung fans do this, most of the times ,people don’t love HTC because f its steep price, but it is one of the best 5 inch device, I will buy it
