In a surprising move, LG has released the ICS kernel source code for Optimus 2X smartphone.  Available now for download at LG open source website, this will allow developers working on custom firmwares for the device, to make better Ice Cream Sandwich builds.

This also shows that LG is indeed planning to release the ICS update for Optimus 2X, which is still stuck on Gingerbread.

This world’s first dual-core smartphone, was released with FroYo, and took ages to get the Gingerbread update, and LG has time and again changed its statement about the Android 4.0 update for the phone, but now it seems that is indeed coming. A lot late, but at least it is here.
