Xperia SSony has announced that it has started rolling out the much-awaited Android 4.0 update for Xperia S smartphone users today. The roll-out is happening over-the-air; however you can also update your device using PC Companion or Bridge for Mac softwares.

As the update is being released in stage and region-wise, you might not get the update right-away. The update size is 200MB, so prefer downloading it via Wi-Fi else you might incus significant data charges.

The update brings the usual ICS goodies along with some of the Sony’s customisations as well as few new apps:

  • New “WALKMAN”, “Album” and “Movies” applications
  • Lock screen with improved functionality
  • Resizable widgets (improved personalization)
  • Improved control of your mobile data consumption
  • Recent Apps button for clear overview of your applications
