During all the Windows 8 hype and the crazy hardware from Asus, we have finally spotted an Android device at Computex. Well, it is not fully Android and also carries Windows 8. We are talking about Asus Transformer AiO, company’s all new All-in-One cum world’s largest tablet (probably!).
Running on Intel Ivy Bridge processor, Asus Aio will feature an 18.4-inch 10-finger multitouch display. You can lift the screen out of its base, and it doubles as a huge tablet, literally HUGE. See Jonney Shih holding it at the launch event.
Even out of the base, it will still be in connection with the base via a remote desktop type interface, so you can keep working from anywhere in your home.
Now coming to the Android part, consumers will be able to switch between Android 4.0 and Windows 8 by simply touching a button.
Here is something about the device from Asus press release:
Part tablet, part All-in-One PC, the Transformer AiO is an innovative device that can seamlessly switch between both, and features dual operating systems to give users the option of switching between Windows and Android to suit their needs. Engineered to work with Windows 8, the Transformer AiO features an extended 18.4″ 10-point multi-touch LED-backlit display which can be easily removed from its base station to become a wireless display for the AiO PC, extending the range of the PC and allowing users to continue with their work anywhere in the home. The display can also be converted into an Android-based tablet for the home with the press of a button.
